I took the images I selected in the previous exercise and put them side by side. I copied them, changed the scale in some cases and tried to make connections. This is my work in progress.

When I could not think of new connections, I chose my favourite 10 and created some composite images in Photoshop.

The last two composite images are more about experimenting with new ways of creating collages with the different scenes whereas the others are about telling new stories. In image #03, I used the fact that some of the characters are meant to look as if they are made out of paper and turned them into toys. Sometimes, when the characters are placed in a different context, their expressions or poses can be read differently. In image #04, the dog is running away, whereas in image #03, he is chewing the paper toys.
It was not easy to use some of the images because the styles were sometimes very different. Moreover, I had done some connections with some of my illustrations/sketches in another exercise (www.catherinerouxillustrationdegree.uk/illustration-year-2/visual-exploration/visual-exploration-assignments/assignment-two-presenting-your-work/) and did not want to repeat the same associations. As a result, I realised that I used some of my selected pieces more often than others.
I always find it interesting to create connections between images as there is usually something different that emerges. It is also an opportunity to remember that any piece of work or sketch does not exist on its own and that it can be revisited for inspiration to create something different.
